IELTS-GPT (“we,” “us,” or “our”) provides AI-powered IELTS writing and speaking assessment at ielts-gpt.com. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights.
Try before signing up: Writing Task 2 offers 2 free essay gradings without an account. A free account unlocks additional grading.
Account required: Writing Task 1 grading and Speaking Practice (Parts 1, 2, and 3) require a free account. Create an account to access these features, including AI pronunciation feedback and band-score assessment for all three Speaking parts.
Account information. When you create an account through our authentication provider (Clerk), we receive your email address, username, and profile picture. We do not store passwords — authentication is handled entirely by Clerk.
Essay content. When you submit an essay for grading, we send your essay text (and question prompt) to our AI provider for assessment. For anonymous users (Writing Task 2 without an account), essay text is processed in memory and not stored. For registered users, we store your essay text, question prompt, and the AI-generated feedback in our database so you can revisit your feedback history from your dashboard.
Audio recordings. When you use Speaking Practice, your audio recording is temporarily uploaded to our server, sent to AI services for transcription and pronunciation analysis, and then permanently deleted from our server. We do not retain your audio files. However, we do store the text transcript, AI-generated feedback, and per-word pronunciation scores so you can review your speaking history from your dashboard.
Task 1 images. If you upload a chart or graph image for Writing Task 1, it is temporarily stored, sent to our AI provider for analysis, and then permanently deleted.
Band scores and feedback history. We store your band scores (overall and per-criterion) so you can view your score history. For registered users, we also store the full AI-generated feedback, essay text, question prompts, speaking transcripts, and pronunciation assessment data alongside your scores. This enables you to revisit detailed feedback from your dashboard. For anonymous users, only band scores are stored, linked to an anonymous visitor identifier.
Usage data. We track the number of submissions per user (or per IP address for anonymous users) each month to manage service limits. IP addresses are stored as one-way hashes and cannot be reversed to identify you.
Email address. We collect your email when you create an account, subscribe to updates, or request feedback results by email.
Device and browser data. We use Google Analytics (see Section 5) which collects IP addresses, browser type, pages visited, and interaction data.
Reviews. If you submit a review on our testimonials page, we collect and display your display name, country, role (student or educator), star rating, and review text. If you provide your target band score or achieved band score, those are also stored. Reviews are linked to your account and require approval before being publicly displayed. You can request removal of your review at any time.
Local storage. We store an anonymous visitor identifier (UUID) in your browser’s local storage to enable score history. This is not a cookie and can be cleared through your browser settings.
We share data with the following third-party providers solely to deliver our services. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data.
