Part 1 (Interview) Weather & Seasons

Weather Preferences

Question

What kind of weather do you like best? Why?

Model Answer

I'd have to say I enjoy mild, slightly cool weather the most, like the kind you get in early autumn. I'm not a big fan of extreme heat because the humidity where I live can be really overwhelming, and it makes it hard to do anything outdoors. On the other hand, I don't mind a bit of drizzle now and then because I find the sound of rain quite soothing. I think the ideal temperature for me is around twenty to twenty-five degrees, where you can comfortably go for a walk without breaking into a sweat or needing a heavy jacket.

Pronunciation Guide

temperature /ˈtemprətʃər/
In natural speech this is often three syllables: TEM-pruh-chur. Don't add an extra syllable as 'tem-PER-a-ture'.
humidity /hjuːˈmɪdɪti/
Stress the second syllable: hyoo-MID-ih-tee. The 'h' at the start should be clearly pronounced.
drizzle /ˈdrɪzəl/
Two syllables: DRIZ-ul. The double 'z' makes a buzzing sound. Rhymes with 'sizzle'.
