In my opinion, while longer prison sentences may be necessary for certain serious offenses, they should not be the primary focus of crime reduction strategies. A balanced approach that incorporates alternative measures alongside traditional punitive methods is more likely to yield long-term results. By addressing the underlying causes of criminal behavior and prioritizing rehabilitation, society can achieve a safer and more just environment.
